We are a non-profit trade association affiliated with the Home Building Association of Virginia and the National Association of Home Builders, and we represent our members in the building industry. Service to our members is our primary emphasis, including offering resources that will help our members conduct their businesses with confidence and professionalism. We support the growth of the building industry and the quality of our communities through active involvement in community affairs, advocating concern for the environment, while maintaining a positive climate for growth. Welcome to the Government Affairs section of our website. The Home Building Association of Richmond monitors and lobbies regarding policies that affect the housing industry in the following localities: Buckingham County, Charles City County, Chesterfield County, Cumberland County, Goochland County, Hanover County, Henrico County, King William County, Louisa County, New Kent County, Powhatan County and Richmond City. IIf you have any questions comments our concerns about local government, please contact our Director of Government Affairs Warren Wakeland at wwakeland@hbar.org or 804-282-0400 x5 Annual General Assembly Breakfast The annual General Assembly Breakfast has a new schedule and a new format.
The event will be held in January 2009 and will include a roundtable discussion
with state legislators and housing policy/state budget experts. The roundtable
discussion will focus on how housing can help the state address their budget
deficits as well as how housing provides short and long term economic benefit to
government revenues. As in past years, Mike Toalson will provide a brief overview
of HBAV's Legislative Priorities for the next General Assembly session.
